Vacancy terms: Full-time fixed term contract for 11 months
Salary details: Grade 6 £33,199 per annum

About the role
Providing vital support to the teaching of undergraduate medical students in the first two years of their course, you will supervise four study groups of eight students from years 1 and 2 of the MB ChB course in their completion of workbook activities. You will support teaching during early clinical placements, developing students' knowledge and skills so they can make a smooth transition into full-time clinical training in year 3 and maximise their student experience.
You will act as personal tutor to a group of students advising them on their progress and scholar achievement and keeping them enthused and motivated with a firm sight on their clinical goals.
This role will provide a training opportunity to develop your teaching and educational skills, offering useful preparation for some Royal College postgraduate examinations. You will have the opportunity to achieve an Accredited Teaching Qualification, and gain experience for a possible future teaching role in medical or higher education.
Applicants must hold MB ChB or equivalent and have completed satisfactorily two years of Foundation Training, or the equivalent, at the time of taking up their post together with full GMC registration. All applicants should have experience in higher education, preferably medical education, be able to demonstrate an interest in clinical education and be able to highlight the importance, significance and relevance of basic science in clinical medicine and practice.
You must be available to commence on 2 September 2019.
Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Dr Steve Jacques (Associate Professor) on firstname.lastname@example.org.
