On Friday 10th March 2017, Health Education England - East Midlands, hosted a fantastic awards event to celebrate and recognise excellence and inspiring health educators in the East Midlands. This was the second time this region has run this event demonstrating the value to patients of our educators, and highlighting the difference good quality education delivers to patients every day.

13 awards were on offer, all nominated for by peers and were judged by members of the public, and with over 270 nominations made, it was clear how much the work of each educator is appreciated by those they work with and those they educate and train. A list of all the winners and all nominations can be found on the right hand side in the downloads section.

Each category celebrated an overall winner enabling us to recognise a number of individuals.  The patient and public panel also chose a number of individuals who they thought should receive special recognition; therefore an additional category was created, as we felt that the depth of quality that the nominations highlighted should be rewarded.

Nominees attended with team members and with their partners, meaning that the event was valued personally as well as professionally. There was a good spread of professionals, specialties and different geographical areas.

Following on from the event, all winners have been sent a copy of the comments that were written about them along with their official photograph.

We believe that this event celebrated those that are making a real difference, not only to trainees and students’ education, but to the lives and wellbeing of all the patients we serve.
