Enhancing Junior Doctors Lives conference

A successful conference took place at the Nottingham Belfry on Friday June 22nd, 2018 to kick-start the SuppoRTT Project in the East Midlands.  Over 80 Trainees and Trainers gathered together to look at taking time out of training, supporting returning to training, flexible training options and working together to get the best out of training.

Proceedings were opened by Professor Sheona Macleod, Chair of the Postgraduate Medical Deans, who introduced the topic of Enhancing Junior Doctors Lives.

Professor Macleod was followed by Dr Lucie Kennedy-Cocker, Trainee and Deputy Chair of the BMA Education and Training Subcommittee who recounted "The Trainee Experience" at the current time.  The day continued with presentations on Flexible Working, HR Policies, LTFT, the Role of the Lead Employer, amongst others. 

Workshops for both Trainer and Trainee were given by experienced Coaches on the subjects of "Nurturing Resilience through Coaching" and "Neurodiversity Awareness".

The keynote speaker was Dr Lucy Gossage, Triathlete, ironman and cancer doctor at Nottingham University Hospitals who closed the conference with an uplifting talk on "Finding the Right Ladder"
