A very warm welcome to the Health Education East Midlands SAS doctors page!
As the Associate Postgraduate Dean for SAS doctors across our region, I look forward to working together over the next years to ensure skill and career development opportunities for all our SAS doctors.
I have been a Specialty Doctor in Old Age Psychiatry at Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust for the past 9 years. I have also been the Trust SAS tutor, CESR Fellowship Scheme Lead, medical appraiser and my College’s SAS committee Vice chair, and now Chair.
After obtaining a medical degree from The University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj, Romania, I gained a BA in Psychology from Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj and an MSc from Manchester University. I subsequently was awarded a PhD from the University of Leeds. I passed the PLAB soon after moving to the UK. I have been involved in medical research for a number of years, securing substantial research funding as a principal investigator, leading to several publications.
For six years I worked for the UK Government as a Medical Advisor, Research Manager and Head of Policy and have extensive experience of representing and negotiating with national and international organisations.
Since returning to NHS full time 10 years ago, I’ve been passionate about the SAS doctors group and have a particular interest in skills and career development (including CESR and credentialing) and medical management and leadership, and the barriers encountered by the SAS group with these processes. I have been leading of workstreams to improve these processes within my speciality at RCPsych.
I am here to support all East Midlands SAS doctors and hope to meet as many of you as possible at various events. We have a great SAS Tutor network across our NHS Trusts, which I am privileged to work with. I am determined to listen and learn from you and to offer guidance and support for your professional development.
