Pharmacy technicians are professional members of the pharmacy team who prepare and manage the supply of medicines and give advice to patients and customers. The role pharmacy technician is regulated by the General Pharmaceutical Council and has developed significantly in recent years. Pharmacy Technicians carry out some of the same tasks as a pharmacist, engaging with patients, managing the supply of medicines and liaising with other members of the healthcare team. Pharmacy Technicians work in a variety of settings including hospitals, community pharmacies, primary care (including GP surgeries), care homes, universities and colleges, health and justice services, the armed forces and industry.
