Midlands NHSE Fellowships Expression of Interest

2026-27 Midlands Fellowships

For the attention of Resident Doctor in Training, LED and SAS, Post CCT Doctors and TPDs across Midlands

The NHSE Midlands Fellowships Programme are inviting Expressions of Interest (EoI) for Fellowships starting September 2026 for 11 months (end 31 July 2027).

Fellowships will be 40% project time, with the remainder spent in your normal training programme or clinical work.

Fellowships are open to all resident doctors in training (within the Midlands region) from any specialty with the prior approval of their Training Programme Director (TPD).

Fellowships are also open to LED/SAS doctors within the Midlands who are already in employment and have approval from their employer.

Doctors should have completed Foundation training at the time of application. The Fellowship programme is only open to doctors who have already had experience of working in the NHS and have an understanding of UK healthcare and training.

What should I do now?

If you are a Resident Doctor in Training, you should discuss with your Educational Supervisor and TPD to seek their support and permission to apply for the Fellowships part time (40%).

If you are a LED or a SAS doctor you must speak to your Line manager/supervisor to seek their support to apply and be released for the Fellowships. It is expected that the employer will host the Fellow throughout the Fellowship Programme. You can also undertake the Fellowship as Less Than Full Time (LTFT).

Doctors in Training: Must have approval from their TPD to train LTFT or take OOPE.

SAS/LED: Must have approval from their employer to work LTFT in their current role for the entire duration of the Fellowship Programme.
