Locality Based Programmes

East Midlands covers an area from Worksop and Retford in the north to Northamptonshire in the south and from the Peak District in the west to the East Coast of Lincolnshire.  We have great transport links whether travelling by rail or road, as the M1 is on our doorstep, or by air as East Midlands Airport is on the border of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.

Our  Programmes offer 20 months in General Practice. We are the first LETB in the UK to offer this for General Practice training. It will offer the opportunity to spend time in your chosen specialty for in posts in ST1 and ST2 as part of the training programme, as well as the year as ST3.

We provide a range of educational opportunities through the variety of programmes available within the East Midlands.

The LETB recognises the importance of adult education where GP registrars are given the opportunity to develop so as to allow them to enjoy a lifetime's career in General Practice.

We have a long history of innovation and seek to maximise the opportunities of the changes to Specialty training to provide programmes that prepare our future GPs for practice and lifelong learning.

Within the region we organise training in units called Programmes;

All  Programmes have a variety of different training rotations, consisting of different hospital specialties. For further information about the Programme, please click on the links at above. Each programme section has its own brochure. Please note, Lincoln and Boston programmes will sit in the Lincolnshire programme from August 2013.

As of August 2014 Northampton and Kettering Programmes will become Northamptonshire, posts will rotate through both Kettering General Hospital, Northampton General Hospital and Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Trust and occasionally to United Leicestershire Hospitals. As part of the GP Training Programme, you may be required to rotate to placements in the same Trust or in different Trusts and GP Training Practices within different GP Training Programme areas (listed below) throughout the Health Education East Midlands region.
