F1 - Careers Workshop

"Your Career, Your Life, Your Direction."
A full day workshop for F1 trainees across the Midlands

A whole day out of F1 during February or March to take a constructive look at career planning and decision making with plenty of resources and signposting so that you can make more of the opportunities available to you. Have a quick read of what previous trainees have said about the workshop...

  • "The workshop provides an opportunity to consider your options in a relaxed and pressure-free environment and gain a head start in planning your specialist training."
  • "For a foundation doctor this is an amazing experience, there is so much to take home especially at this crucial stage of our careers."
  • "Informal and light-hearted involving thinking outside the box and uses different learning styles to achieve this."
  • "Helped to consider wider issues of working in different specialties."
  • "Useful to work out which particular skills I enjoy using in my work and to think about which areas of medicine might be most interesting and satisfying to work in."

What can I expect from the workshop?

  • Think about what you need to consider and do to choose the right specialty for you.
  • An opportunity to think about your strengths and weaknesses in a structured way.
  • Evaluate what is important to you in a job.
  • A planning tool which helps you to break down goals and make them achievable.
  • Look at the timescale for specialty applications, and the level of vacancies/competition across different specialties.
  • Advice on CVs and portfolios.
